The technology is the same, the rules differ: for a local authority, many sites with their own tariffs can be run in one portal; at a hotel, guests are authorised; at a clinic, visitors and staff stay separate. At events, peaks can be absorbed with bookable tickets; at a shopping centre, parking can cost something for visitors while tenants and staff are authorised.
Capture is via cameras and licence plate recognition at the entrances, usually without a barrier. Whether parking costs something or stays free with rules is something you decide per site. Existing barriers, roller doors and software can be connected instead of replaced, as far as their control unit allows.
