Traffic counting automatically records how many vehicles are on the move and can be booked on its own at any time as a separate service, with no parking system required. If you also use the PARQ parking system, for example as a local authority, you can also get traffic counting free of charge. We count by vehicle type, including cars, HGVs, bicycles and e-scooters. How it workstraffic counting.
A traffic count measures how many vehicles pass a defined point and in which direction they are travelling. With PARQ, this is done by a camera with AI in the device: it observes a counting line at the entrance, at the junction or on the road and detects what crosses the line. Automatic traffic counting provides a vehicle count by type, including cars, HGVs, bicycles and e-scooters. Data leaves the camera only as counts, encrypted via mobile network to the portal. There you see the figures live and over time, by hour, day and period, export the raw data or pass it on via an interface. Municipalities and towns thereby understand their traffic flows and can justify measures with real figures instead of estimating them. Counting is permanent or temporary. If you also use the PARQ parking system, for example as a municipality, traffic counting is also possible free of charge. How many counting points are needed depends on the routes you want to measure.

Questions about traffic counting.
A camera observes a defined counting line, at an entrance or a junction for example. The AI in the device identifies what crosses the line and in which direction, and counts each vehicle individually. Only the count values go to the portal.
Counting records around 10 different vehicle types separately, including cars, HGVs, bicycles or e-scooters. So you see not only how much traffic there was, but also what it consisted of. This lets you justify measures with real figures, such as additional bicycle parking or a different traffic layout.
We define the counting points together: at entrances, at junctions or on a road. A counting line is set up at each point, and the direction is counted as well. Several points come together in one portal, so that the values can be analysed individually and together.
The price depends on the number of counting points, the period and whether power is available on site. For counting over a few weeks, the setup looks different from a permanent measurement. Tell us your locations and we will work it out.

In the portal you see the figures live and over time: per hour, per day and across the whole period, separated by direction and vehicle type. You export the raw data as a file or pass it on via an interface, to a data platform or a reporting tool for example.
